The speculation surrounding the recent awards show reached a fever pitch, particularly after presenter Geoff Keighley posted an enigmatic photo of a strange statue. The mystery is finally answered. Larian Studios is working on a fresh Divinity game.
Revealed to be Divinity, the game was presented with a daring trailer featuring striking imagery, from a burning man to an orgy and the literal unleashing of hell.
A Different Direction
Anyone expecting Divinity Original Sin 3, prepare for a surprise. The studio warned that a third Original Sin game to its beloved RPGs is not currently in development.
Nevertheless, the developer described this new Divinity as a evolution of the core franchise. This distinction implies that the team might be designing a more action-oriented experience instead of another tactical title. For now, it remains theory, as only a teaser video is available.
The Legacy of Divinity
The Divinity series is widely praised and arguably it kicked off the modern wave of deep computer role-playing games. These games are known for rich lore, player agency, and complex character building—traits that recently reached new heights in games like Baldur's Gate 3.
While its world is classic fantasy, what really distinguishes Divinity apart is the immense freedom given to the player.
While numerous modern RPGs have streamlined options, Divinity is brimming with unique possibilities that are viable by choosing a particular class or origin with a unique decision path.
The series is also notoriously permissive, enabling players to find creative solutions both in story and combat. Most missions can be approached in a variety of manners, frequently in unexpected fashion.
- You might solve a puzzle because you remembered something a non-human character said.
- Or, you could overcome an obstacle by using the world itself in a inventive way.
The Journey Continues
It is these creative systems that have cemented the series to hail games like Divinity Original Sin 2 as a top-tier role-playing games ever made. Now, fans can anticipate another adventure in this legendary franchise.
